About the Author Megan Sumrall Lott & Her Educational Books

Dr. Megan has always had a love for children’s books. She began writing My Eye the Bully when she saw a need for a children’s book to better understand amblyopia. Amblyopia, often called a “lazy eye,” leads children and parents to believe that it couldn’t be corrected. And that is far from the truth! Dr. Megan began putting in a story exactly how she describes amblyopia to parents-a bully eye. Then the need to understand other visual conditions that are frequently treated with vision therapy came to life in books as well. Her desire in writing is to explain visual conditions in a way that children (and parents!) can easily understand and remove fear and anxiety that surrounds visiting the optometrist. Stay tuned for Dr. Megan’s next books as you never know what she may write about next!

My Eye the Bully

On a visit to the pediatrician Alex learns that he can’t see well out of one eye. A vision exam with an optometrist teaches him that he has a “bully eye.” He learns that it can be corrected with glasses and vision therapy. This is a great book to explain to children about amblyopia “lazy eye” as well as an introduction to an eye exam.
